Buying at Auction
If you are unable to attend the Auction we have the facility to ring you to enable you to bid or, if you prefer, we can accept your written commission bids. Please ask our staff for details of this service.
Registering
We operate a computer system where each buyer is registered and supplied with a bidding number. If you wish to bid for a Lot please register and obtain a bidding number by either attending the Auction, emailling us or by telephoning us on 01580 715857. Our office hours are Monday to Friday 9:30am - 5:00pm.
Commission Rates
Bentley’s Fine Art Auctioneers charge a buyer’s commission rate of 17.5% (plus VAT at the current rate on the commission).
Clearance after Auction
We would appreciate it if customers would settle their accounts by Wednesday following the auction and clear their purchases by the Friday following an auction.
Internet Buyers
To all Internet Buyers payment must be made by the Wednesday following the sale by 5.00p.m U.K time.
Postage & Packing
1. We undertake to pack items and a packing charge will be levied subject to size, materials and number of parcels. We do not pack furniture for shipping.
2. We do not undertake any direct postage either UK or abroad.
3. Buyers can use the link on our website home page to arrange collection and delivery
through Worldwide Parcel Services Ltd.
4. Buyers can arrange collection by their own courier.
5. No goods will be released until full payment has been made, including the packing charge.
6. We will supply buyers with all relevant information regarding size and weight of goods. Buyers must forward us by email, any waybills or parcel labels.
7. All buyers must arrange collection of their goods within 21 days of the relevant auction (excluding furniture). After which Bentley's reserve the right to charge storage of £1 per day and goods will not be released until this has been paid. Furniture must be removed within 14 days of the relevant auction after which furniture items will be put into storage and storage charges may apply.
8. Bentley’s Ltd will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to items due to circumstances beyond their control.
Condition Reports
Please note that Bentley’s Fine Art Auctioneers does not supply ‘Condition Reports’. We are however, quite prepared to send photographs to enable you to make an evaluation of the item, but we do not have the equipment to study restoration techniques or covered damage. We can only relay what can be seen by the naked eye. If you need to know the precise condition of any item in a forthcoming auction we strongly recommend you either view the item yourself or delegate someone to view it for you. Images will be emailed on Thursday or Friday immediately prior to the auction.
