Selling at Auction
Bentley’s Fine Art Auctioneers hold regular monthly sales throughout the year selling antique furniture, fine art, porcelain, rugs, carpets, silver and jewellery as well as interesting design and interiors pieces. Our Sales are held on the first Saturday of each month. (See auction calendar for our sale dates).
We welcome and assist many new sellers every month and we aim to make your selling experience as easy as possible. The following is Bentley’s quick guide to Selling at Auction and our full terms and conditions for selling at auction can be found at the link at the bottom of this page.
Entering Items for Auction
You can bring your items for appraisal to us at The Old Granary Monday to Friday 9.30am - 5pm. Assuming you decide to go ahead you can leave the items with us and they will be entered into a subsequent sale.
If it is not possible for you to visit us or you have a large number of items for sale you can telephone or email the office to arrange a visit by one of our valuers, who will be happy to make and appointment to come and see you and appraise your items.

If you decide to consign your items Bentley’s will arrange to collect your items at a mutually convenient time.
Alternatively, you can email us photos of your items with any relevant information and we will get back to you in a few days with valuation for sale at auction. firstname.lastname@example.org. We recommend this method if you have a few items of furniture or any other large and not easily portable items that you may be considering consigning.
Bentley’s aim for a minimum lot value of £50.00 per lot.
Lots will be entered in our regular monthly sale and any unsold lots will then be offered the following week on our online Timed Auction hosted by Saleroom.com. Once sellers have received their cheque and/or statement following an auction we ask that all unsold items that we have not agreed to re-enter be removed by the seller up to or within 7 days. Commission and Expenses
Seller’s commission is charged at 18.5% on the sale hammer price. A 1.5% limited liability charge is made on all sold lots and £3.00 per lot is charged on all unsold lots. These charges are all plus VAT at the current rate. Bentley’s charge a minimum of £20 plus VAT for local collections. We do not charge for photographs.
Subject to Bentley’s receiving full payment for lots sold payment is made after deductions by cheque 2 weeks following a sale.
